OCTOBER EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

The October meeting was held at Headland House on 20 October. The two main items on the agenda were a report from the Head of Research Services and a legal update briefing from Steve Pinder from EAD Solicitors.
Rod Smith , Head of Research Services , reported on work conducted on behalf of affilated unions in 2009 to date. The main discussion centred around the publication of Building Your Union which forms part of the GFTU organising strategy. The Federation will work closely with two affiliates to assist organising strategies and will also publish materials on the website.
Steve Pinder covered the new arrangements in respect of grievance and disciplinary matters with particular reference to the ACAS Code of Practice.
He also informed members of recent developments in respect of industrial action ballots.
