RON MARRON- OBITUARY

Ron Marron was President of the GFTU 1995-1997 and Presided at the BGCM in Bournmouth in 1997. He was a member of the Federation’s Executive Committee from 1989 to 1999.
After National Service Ron had a variety of jobs prior to taking up work in a foundry. He became a Shop Steward for Associated Metalworkers Union at the age of 19 and progressed to Branch Secretary and Executive Committee Member. In 1980 Ron became Assistant General Secretary AMU eventually becoming General Secretary in 1984.
Ron was also very active in the Confederation of Engineering and Shipbuilding Unions and played an important part in many campaigns both local and national on behalf of working people.
