MPs Condemn Government’s Attack on POA as Act of Provocation.
In response to the statement today from Jack Straw announcing the intention to reinstate the legal ban on industrial action by POA, John McDonnell MP, Secretary of the Justice Unions Parliamentary Group said
"This unilateral imposition of the ban on the POA whilst talks are still going on will be seen as an act of bad faith on the part of the Government. It will cause particular anger as in opposition Labour had promised to scrap the ban and restore trade union rights to the POA. Set alongside the Police pay dispute and Gordon Brown’s announcements on pay policy, a pattern of Government attacks on public sector workers seems to be emerging."
