Executive Committee Meeting held 20 June 2006

MINUTES

 

 Present: Mr G Oakes, (President). Also in attendance: Mr D Nicholls (Vice-President), Mr P Booth, Mr J Marino, Ms J McKnight, Mr P Pendle, Mr J Fray, Mr T Pye, Mr D Rishton, Mr J Smith and the Secretary.                                                    

Apologies for absence were received from Ms P Davies,Ms R Eagleson, Mr J Mann, Mr B Marshall and Mr A McCarthy. 

 

Minutes M265.1-M265.8

 M266.1 The Minutes of the Meeting held on 16 May 2006 were approved as a true record.

 

Matters Arising

 M266.2 In respect of Minute M265.3 (Fee Dispute) it was reported that the matter would be heard at 3pm on Tuesday 20 June 2006.

 

Education and Training Report

 M266.3 The Head of Educational Services verbally supplemented a previously circulated written report detailing work conducted for affiliated Unions since March 2006.

 M266.4 The Executive Committee discussed and noted for budgetary consideration a proposed programme of courses for 2007.

 

General Secretary Report

 M266.5 It was reported that the 2007 BGCM would be held in Belfast on 14/15 May.

M266.6 It was reported that arrangements were being made for an International Study Visit in October 2006.  IFWEA and John Mann, MP were assisting with the arrangements.

 

Meeting with Hazel Blears

 M266.7 The General Secretary reported that he was meeting the Chair of the Labour Party and Minister without Portfolio on 26 June 2006.  After discussion it was agreed to raise the following matters:

 a Warwick Agenda

b Small claims limit

c Youth Service

d Manufacturing Industry

e Public Services

f Public Procurement

g Administrations

 Presentation by Coverwell

 M266.8 Coverwell Solutions (formerly Uniserve) gave a presentation on Insurances and membership benefits.  It was agreed to circulate the presentation to affiliates.

Any Other Business

 M266.9 Mr D Nicholls gave an update on the positions in respect of disputes within Northamptonshire and Liverpool.
