GFTU EDUCATIONAL TRUST
Two Hundred and thirtieth meeting of the Trustees held 25 February 2009.
CENTRAL HOUSE MINUTES
Present: Ms M Colverd, Mr J Fray, Mr D Spooner and the Secretary .
Apologies for absence were received from: Mr D Nicholls (President) Mr J Bell, Mr J Marino (Vice President) and Mr C Wilkes.
Minutes 1030-1035
1036 The Minutes of the Trustees meeting held on 16 July 2008 were approved as a true record.
Draft Audited Accounts 2008
1037 Mr J Warsop, accountant, introduced the draft accounts. A number of questions from Trustees were answered. The Secretary was authorised to circulate the revised accounts by email to Trustees for approval and signing off.
Risk Register
1038 The summary of risks (attached to Minutes) were discussed.
Investments
1039 The Secretary was directed to ascertain if electronic copies of Newton Statements were available which could be emailed regularly to Trustees.
It was also agreed to ask the GFTU Executive Committee to institute a small sub-committee, including one trustee, to facilitate more regular review of performance of the portfolio.
Concern was expressed at the performance of the portfolio compared to benchmark.
Executive and Training Report
1040 The Head of Educational Services gave a comprehensive report on activity since July 2008.
Research and IT Report
1041 The Secretary gave an overview of the BGCM Research and IT Report.
Northern Pensions Conference
1042 It was agreed to donate £150.
Peter Potts Scholarship
1043 Mr P Reilly (Community) was awarded a Potts Scholarship.
Grants
1044 Mr W Ryan (Amicus) £50.
