Newest group of trade union members seek support for official industrial action to win £12,000 cut in wholesale prices to raise hourly income above national minimum wage

GMB today announced details of dates and venues for 16 open meetings for pubco tied tenants on the GMB pub revolution national road show tour that will take place over the next four weeks. These are in addition to tenant meetings on the road show that are by invitation only and unlike the 16 meetings announced today will not be open for part of the proceedings to the media. MP’s and PPCs will be invited.
The aim of the GMB national road show is to win the support of thousand of pubco tied tenants from all parts of Britain to combine in GMB to take part in an official ballot for official industrial action to secure £12,000 cuts in the wholesale prices they are forced to pay the pubcos.
There are 25,000 tied tenants (lessees) of seven large property companies called pubcos. These are Admiral Taverns Ltd, Enterprise Inns, Fuller Smith & Turner, Greene King, Marston’s, Punch Pub Company, and S & N Pub Enterprises. Lessees are charged up to double the wholesale prices available on the open market. In May 2009 The House of Commons Business and Enterprise Committee (BEC) found that two thirds of them earn less than £15,000 per annum for up to 60 hours per week.
