GFTU Equality Reps Project Dissemination Event - 29th October - Telford
The conference also included the launch of the GFTU’s 2010 educational brochure by Judith Jackson (Head of Educational Services) whilst Ian Manborde (GFTU UMF Equality Reps Project Manager) delivered a presentation on project outcomes and launched the publication Equalities: A Trade Union and Employer Guide.
A packed meeting listened to a wide range of speakers at the dissemimation event of the GFTU’s 2008-2009 Union Modernisation Fund (UMF) equality reps project. Speakers ranged from project partners including Merryn Wells from the Equality & Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and Aveen McHugh of CONNECT.
Delegates to the conferences also heard directly from those who had been trained as an equality rep as part of the project. Paul Greenwood a UNITE workplace representative thanked the GFTU for the opportunity to become an equality rep whilst James Stribley, a GMB regional convenor for the GMB, spoke in partnership with Majid Hussain, Inclusion and Diversity Manager for REMPLOY, of a joint strategy to embed equalities across REMPLOY.
