 On 1^st May 2013 a new partnership between General Federation of Trade Unions Educational Trust and TAEN (The Age and Employment Network) was announced to create a centre of expertise for employee representatives on age and work issues.

100th GFTU CONFERENCE (General Council Meeting) PRELIMINARY AGENDA

The Preliminary Agenda for the One Hundredth General Council meeting of the GFTU which will be held in our own hotel and conference centre, Quorn Grange Hotel, May 19th 2pm until May 21st 2pm.

SUCCESSFUL GFTU YOUTH CONFERENCE

The GFTU recently held a successful youth conference in Staffordshire. Delegates from GFTU affiliated unions and youth organisations took part in the event.

QUORN GRANGE - GFTU’S NEW HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTRE

Quorn Grange Hotel – GFTU Education Trust’s new hotel and conference centre.

Affiliates and members will find a warm and economical and brilliant welcome at GFTU Education Trust’s new acquisition.

This is the Quorn Grange Hotel in the village of Quorn near Loughborough Leicestershire, just half an hour from East Midlands Airport and a short way off the M1. It is near many visitor attractions. 

It is a great place with 38 bedrooms, a bar, a restaurant, a Conference Room and various meeting rooms and elegant dining area. It is located in eight and a half acres of beautiful landscaped gardens.

GFTU PLAN FOR YOUTH INITIATIVES

The GFTU is targetting youth development for trade unions, A range of initiatives are being developed to ensure the trade union movement is preparing solidly for the future generations of trade unionists.

Following on Conference decisions and detailed Executive discussions the GFTU is drawing up a whole range of initiatives. Two key elements are a special Youth Conference to bring key activists together and plans for a Yiouth Officer at the GFTU to develop work strands. New GFTU General Secretary Doug Nicholls with his long experience in the Community & Youth Workers Union, later as a National Officer for UNITE when CYWU joined UNITE, sees this as a central theme for the GFTU as trade unions face the challemges in the current economic climate.
